Vintage Shirt, Yea or Nay?

Months and months ago my mom bought a vintage shirt at one of the swapmeets she and my dad frequent. It didn't fit her so she gave it to me to wear.   I liked the design (the tucks, the tuxedo style inset, the cute cuffed sleeves).  When I tried it on, it was about 2 inches too big around the waist and realized that the previous owner added a strip of fabric to the side seams to increase the width.
 See the extra fabric here:

I decided to removed the excess fabric and restitch up the seams. A quick and easy project.

They finished seam!

As soon as I can get the Boyfriend to take a picture of me in the shirt, I'll post it.  Then you can let me know if it's flattering or not.  I'm having trouble deciding whether I like it or if it is "me."

  1. I wish I had a pattern for this blouse. The detailing is so attractive.

  2. Hi Gail! I think if you Frankenpattern the shirt, you can get a pretty close replica. Check out Summerset's latest vintageshirt: http://scpbanks.blogspot.com/2010/07/great-vintage-shirt-project-advance.html . Add the tuxedo inset from the Hot Pattern Metropolitan Deneuve Tuxedo Shirt and you might end up with a shirt like this one. :)
